Christian Gepp's Picture Gallery.
Christian Gepp who lives near Nuremberg in Germany is interested in old ocean liners, such as the Australis/American Star. He has just been to Fuerteventura in the past month, and whilst there he visited the wreck at Playa De Garcey. He wrote in an accompanying e-mail "You can see, that only a small part of the wreck is showing above the waterline. It is a curious feeling when you get to the beach and you look for the wreck. In your memories you see the ship and you await it, but now you see only the small ships side in the water - thats all. The sea has done a good job - sadly".

Welcome all visitors to the S.S. Australis Website, which has now been online since 1998!

I will continue to update the site if I receive a new story, or if you have interesting photos taken on the ship during your voyage on either the southbound, northbound, or on one of the South Pacific cruises. We used to do those trips several times a year from Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland (New Zealand).

I am deeply moved by the interest and wonderful contributions from the numerous passengers and crew over many years.
