John McAleer's Picture Gallery.

John McAleer sailed with his family in 1977 from Melbourne to Southampton. He was a 13 years old at the time and he has very vivid memories of a fantastic 4-5 weeks at sea. However, he did experience rough seas across to Auckland New Zealand, where ropes were hung along the corridors to give passengers something to hold as the ship was buffetted from side to side. The pictures below were taken off some slides which were originally photographed by his father.

Due to a huge volume of questions I am asked, for which often I do not have the information, I have decided to ask that only ex-crew actually write to me please.

I am delighted with everyones contributions, and will occasionally update the Australis web site, using photos/stories etc sent to me. However I cannot answer any more questions.

Thankyou for your sustained interest in the SS Australis Homepage.

Please e-mail me on this link: Contact.
