Jim Galloway's Picture Gallery.

I met Jim during the first time I worked on the Australis in the summer of 1973, I tried to keep a wide berth of this Master-at-Arms as he was good at handing out fines to the crew for all their misdemeanors. He also knew my brother Ray who was the ships Entertainment Officer along with the late John L. Sullivan.

J immy "served time" with Chandris Lines between 1966 and 1978. He worked on the Queen Frederika, Australis and the Ellinis. Jims post was Master-at-Arms, and on the Ellinis he held the position of Inventory Officer. After working for Chandris Jim left the company and worked for British Rail, based in London. In recent years Jim has moved to the west country and has worked in store security.

In his personal life Jim has been married twice and has two daughters and a grand-daughter. He is now semi-retired, having had a heart bypass in 1999. That just goes to show that Jim wasn't heartless after all!!

Due to a huge volume of questions I am asked, for which often I do not have the information, I have decided to ask that only ex-crew actually write to me please.

I am delighted with everyones contributions, and will occasionally update the Australis web site, using photos/stories etc sent to me. However I cannot answer any more questions.

Thankyou for your sustained interest in the SS Australis Homepage.
