Antonios Exintaris was born in 1938 and raised in Nikea, which is a suburb of Piraeus (the biggest commercial port in Greece and nowadays the biggest in the Mediterranean Sea).
He started his working experience on the Greek passenger ship “Kolokotronis” in 1960, and he finished his career on the Greek cruise ship “Constellation”. On SS Australis he worked
for two and a half years, starting in 1968, crossing the Atlantic from Southampton to the Caribbean, and then to Australia through the Panama Canal, reaching Melbourne, Sydney and Fremantle. He was an "A" grade cook at that time.

Welcome all visitors to the S.S. Australis Website, which has now been online since 1998!
I will continue to update the site if I receive a new story, or if you have interesting photos taken on the ship during your voyage
on either the southbound, northbound, or on one of the South Pacific cruises. We used to do those trips several times a year
from Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland (New Zealand).
I am deeply moved by the interest and wonderful contributions from the numerous passengers and crew over many years.
